It seems that Harry may have recovered from the spine flu.  As of now, he's defying the white house and going ahead with the Public Option Opt-Out plan in the Senate:

"He's knows what he's doing is a gamble," Reid spokesman Jim Manley said. "But more and more, he's convinced it's the right thing to do."

Maybe Harry's recovered from his spine flu?  More on the flip...

Clock Strikes Midnight in the Upper Midwest

This is the end, my beautiful friends, the end....

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Bush-consi dering-orderly-auto-apf-13868234.html

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration is seriously considering "orderly" bankruptcy as a way of dealing with the desperately ailing U.S. auto industry.

Time to stock up on gasoline, canned food, an ammo... it's going to be like a Mad Max movie around here...

Michigan to Build Windmills--If You Let Them!

Today, the news posted a glimpse of the promise of Obama's green economic initiatives:

From the Detroit Free Press:  http://www.freep.com/article/20081215/BU SINESS01/81215041

Granholm's remarks on the rescue came after her announcement that state tax breaks for 20 business projects will net the state $2.3 billion in new investments.

That will ultimately produce 7,400 new jobs, directly and indirectly, according to the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC).

Among the ventures is a company that makes wind turbines and a firm that will make a lightweight bus that gets three times the gas mileage of conventional buses.

Such a vision might transform manufacturing in the midwest and bring new prosperity to the long suffering rust belt...  Except that this initiatives is very close to failing, if... if...  (more over the break)

Obama had votes to split MI 50/50

Per Chuck Todd at MSNBC

Per multiple sources inside the closed Rules and Bylaws Committee lunch, Obama actually had the votes to get a 50-50 delegate split out of Michigan -- but by just a vote or two.

However, it was decided to go with the 69-59 split to win a larger majority. That measure passed 19-8.

He could have pressed for the truly fair solution, but he didn't... He supported the one that would help heal the divisions with the party... He offered the olive branch...

It's time to bury the hatchet.
